Visiting Tonga is one of the best life experience in my entire life. Why? It’s simply because it’s my first time have such close up experience with the whales in my entire life!

The Kingdom of Tonga, consists a number 170 of islands, located between Fiji and New Zealand. It is famous for whale watch and whale swim during the season between July to October as the humpback whale migrate from the Antartica.

The iconic whale’s tail

It’s not easy to find travel information for Tonga, especially for a budget backpacker traveler like me. However, Tonga have their own tourist webpage, which you can find most of the information here.

After several days of research and email queries, I finally got myself booked with Deep Blue Dive, which also provide accommodation, Ovava Tree Lodge, located at ‘Eua.

Breathing

The main reason I got myself booked with Deep Blue Dive not only because they provide accommodation, but also the flexibility of the tour they provided. I can personally request for the number of dive I would like to have while of most of the other tours only offer fix timing and number of dive.

Showing me it’s gorgeous white tummy!

Whale watch is the best when there’re swimmers under the water to swim and play with whales. This is because the whales will stay around longer and sometimes they will show themselves on the surface of water, waving, slapping and even jumping out of water (known as breaching)! Please see Whale Swim experience here.

Happy whale, happy me
