Apart from whale watch, the ultimate must activity to do in Tonga is definitely whale swim! It definitely brings you much more closer to the whale under the water. Please see Whale Watch experience here.

Similar with whale watch, I did whale swim with Deep Blue Dive as well. For backpackers who want to travel as light as you can, no worries. Gears and wetsuit are included without any surcharge.

So close!

Whale swim is more like snorkelling or free dive. Scuba diving is not allowed as this take place in the middle of ocean. There is nothing for you to recognise your position and the captain need to constantly check on your position. Hence, you don’t need to have a scuba diving license to encounter this activity.

*Sound on to listen to the whales!

Can ya’ feel the happiness?

Whale watch and whale swim experiences are different. I feel the excitement for whale watch and yet loveliness and gentleness for whale swim.

It’s incredible to see how a mother whale take care of its’ baby. The length of a newborn humpback calf is about its’ mother’s head, which is about 20 feet long and weight 2 short tons.

It’s really incredible!

Lastly, wanted to say thank you to the guide, David, for helping me taking all these incredible videos!

Do you know?
Unlike human who breathe involuntarily, humpback whale actually need to think about breathing. Humpback whale will shut off half their brain at a time while asleep and still breath.
